Cá rửa sạch, để ráo nước, ướp với 1/3 muỗng cà phê muối, 1/3 muỗng cà phê tiêu, 1/2 chỗ gừng và tỏi băm.
Dùng giấy bạc gấp cao các viền để tránh chảy nước. Đặt giấy bạc vào lòng hấp của nồi cơm điện, xếp cá vào, đậy nấp lại, bật nút nấu. Khi thấy hơi nước làm mờ kính thì mở nắp rắc nốt phần tỏi và gừng băm còn lại vào, thêm 2 muỗng cà phê dầu mè. Tiếp tục đậy nấp hấp cho đến khi cá chín(khoảng 15-20 phút).
